Violin virtuoso
Vesko Eschkenazy is 1st
Concertmaster of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra; a position he has held since January 1, 2000.

Vesko Eschkenazy walked on stage of the Big hall of the Concertgebouw
to perform a chamber music concert with the world’s best M.
Rostropovich, Y. Bashmet. The Dutch Queen – Beatrix was the special
guest of that unforgettable evening of magic.
“Vesko Eschkenazy is a brilliant violinist” – “De Telegraaf” -
that was the reaction of the most popular newspaper in the
Netherlands after the performance of the Szymanowski’s violin
concerto No. 1 that Vesko gave in the big hall of the Concertgebouw
in Amsterdam with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in November 2000.
Vesko Eschkenazy was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1970.
After graduating from the High School of Music in Sofia Eschkenazy
entered the Bulgarian State Conservatoire where he attained an Honors
Degree (1990).
Mr Eschkenazy continued his studies at the Guild Hall School of Music
and Drama in London in the Advanced Solo Studies Class of Professor
Yfrah Neaman, graduating with the Solo Recital Diploma of the School
in 1992.
He is a laureate of several international violin competitions such as
the ''Wieniawski Competition''( together with Maxim Vengerov) in
Poland and the ''Carl Flesch Competition'' in London.
Vesko Eschkenazy has appeared as a soloist in orchestras such as the
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, C.P.E. Bach
Chamber Orchestra – Berlin,
London Philharmonic Orchestra, Monte Carlo Simfony Orchestra,
Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfonica del Estado di
Mexico, Irish National Simphony Orchestra, The Bulgarian Festival
Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra.
In December 1997 he made his debut in the Big hall of the
Concertgebouw in Amsterdam performing the Beethoven violin concerto
and in 2000 the Khatchaturian violin concerto with six consecutive
evenings in the same Hall.
Vesko has participated as a soloist in the following international
festivals:
MIDEM in Cannes, Radio France in Montpelier, the Music Festivals in
Nantes and Reims, Varna Summer Festival and The New Year Festival in
Sofia.
He has shared the stage with great conductors:
Ricardo Chailly, Sir Colin Davis, Carlo-Maria Giullini, Bernard
Haitink, Kurt Masur, Seiji Ozawa, Emil Tchakarov.
He plays on a Guarneri del Gesu violin from 1738 on loan from the
Deutsche Bank, Amsterdam.
